Physics - Velocity and Acceleration Practice Problems - Part 2

Problem 1
You roll a ball against a wall that is 7.4 meters away from you. The ball bounces off the wall and rolls back 2.7 meters towards you before it stops. What is the total distance covered by the ball? What is the displacement of the ball?
Answer: _______________________

Problem 2
You ride your bike a distance of 129.4 meters down the street in 22.9 seconds. You turn around and ride the same distance back to where you started. The return trip takes 31.7 seconds. What was your speed and what was your velocity over the course of the entire bike ride?
Answer: _______________________

Problem 3
A car drives 271 meters down a road for 48 seconds. It stops and then turns around and drives only 78 meters back in 19 seconds. What is the velocity of the car for the first part of the trip? What is the velocity of the car for the second part of the trip? What is the velocity for thecar for the entire trip?
Answer: _______________________

Problem 4
A driver drives his car down a long, straight country road at 83 km/hr. If he drives in that direction for 45.6 minutes, how far does he drive?
Answer: _______________________

Problem 5
A car and a semi are approaching each other on a 2-lane road. The car is traveling at 41 mph,and the semi is traveling at 72 mph. If you were standing at the side of the road watching thesituation, what velocity would you observe for the car? What velocity would you observe for the semi? What velocity does the driver of the car observe for the semi? What velocity does the driver of the semi observe for the car?
Answer: _______________________

Problem 6
A runner is moving with a velocity of 5.9 m/sec to the west. The runner hears someone honking at him and slows down immediately. He stops after 3.6 seconds. What was his acceleration?
Answer: _______________________

Problem 7
A car slams on the brakes to avoid hitting an obstacle in the road. If the car has a maximum deceleration of 5.9 m/sec2 and it takes 22 seconds for the car to stop, how fast was the car initially traveling?
