As school starts up in the next couple of weeks, here are some things you can do to get started off well.
- Make it your goal to turn in assignments on time. This means working each night on your homework and making sure you don't fall behind.
- Look ahead at big projects. Start in on them the day they are assigned. Even if you work 10-15 minutes on a project each day, this will help you avoid hurrying through things or spending hours on the project the day before the deadline.
- Pay attention in class. Take notes. Mark things you don't understand. Ask questions.
- Get to know your teacher. Most teachers are more than willing to take some time to explain things you are having a difficulty understanding. Check with your teacher on his/her policy for meeting with students and set up a time to ask questions if you need to.
- Keep the end goal in sight. What's your goal? A certain grade? A certain college opportunity? Assess your goal and then write out a plan on how you are going to obtain that goal.
- Have fun. Remember, learning new things can be exciting. So, try to have some fun with what you are learning this year.
